Congratulations to the 2022 Corian® Design Award Grand Prize Winners!

Another year of the Corian® Design Awards has come to completion, with our 2022 winners announced. The Corian® Design Awards celebrate ingenuity and rich, innovative creativity across the Australian design industry. It’s an opportunity to recognise local designers who have used Corian® to remarkable and surprising effect within their designs across the year.

The Awards have a rich history of celebrating industry-leading design and future-oriented creativity across commercial and residential projects alike. No matter whether the individual project is a family home or a major commercial space, the Awards’ judging panels are tasked with identifying outstanding design that goes beyond fad and achieves something truly timeless.

In 2022 our Award winners range from health services to panoramic residential homes. With innovation as a common thread running through these projects, it highlights the potential Corian® offers Australian architects, designers and builders as they bring their visions to life.

Without further ado, it’s time to introduce the 2022 Corian® Design Award Winners. Each winner will enjoy a trip to Da Nang, Vietnam, in 2023!

The 2022 Corian® Design Awards Commercial Overall Winner: FY Smile by Esoteriko

In this dental clinic, Corian® brings the space to life with unexpected curves, light and intricate attention to detail.

‘It may be a small project, but it packs a punch. The design is great but really only comes to life by Esoterika’s extensive deployment of Corian® solid surface. The clever blending of plain and marbled Corian® materials is very subtle, but hugely effective,’ commented our judges.

‘The combination of clean whites, fresh mints contrasted with aged metallics is genius. The curves soften the space and instantly transport you away from the clinical, often intimidating feel of dental consult rooms.’

The 2022 Corian® Design Awards Residential Overall Winner: Black Rock House by SAAJ Design

Melbourne-based architecture and interior design team SAAJ Design have delivered astounding results with Black Rock House. Briefed by their clients to design a home that felt like they were living on the water, this multi-tiered home offers breathtaking views on every level that create a sensation of truly hovering just over the water’s edge. Corian® was the material of choice for the home’s cabinetmaker and fabricator. The judges remarked, ‘The design and the execution by their cabinetmaker and fabricator is a tour de force example of three-dimensional design. It’s a design which could only be accomplished using Corian® solid surface and the skills of really experienced tradespeople.’

The judges also ‘love the sculptural aspect of the island bench that highlights the unique qualities of Corian®… Curvaceous and glamorous detailing beneath the benches and banquette seating, like the forms have been extruded from a single, solid mass.’

Congratulations, SAAJ Design!
